Michael D’s Eatery Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

We've been ordering for pick up from Michael D's for awhile and their phone/pick up etiquette IS TERRIBLE. They pick and choose when they'll allow you to do take out. (With zero pattern or litgitimate schedule, it's just up to whoever answers) A lady literally refused to take my order! When I called back to speak to someone else, or a manager....they ignore their phone. Don't offer a service at all if you can't follow through with it!!!!

The waitresses are friendly and efficient . Small wait because all the people who live this food ! Malted waffle with all the toppings is fabulous!!! My mother had a pancake the size of a platter with a healthy piece of ham

Delicious food. Great service. Menu has a great selection without being overwhelming. They even have a Paleo breakfast menu. We'll definitely be back! Side note - my husband ate free today (Memorial Day) because he's a veteran and I love businesses that honor our servicemen.

We've been coming to Michael D's since it first opened and in fact use to eat at the diner that was there before Michael D's. We have always had great service and our favorites are the ham and cheese scrambler and the Barbra D combo. Great sourdough pancakes.

I love this restaurant! My husband had eggs, easy over, sausage links sourdough bread and the potatoes. The sausage was good, not fatty. Care was taken with each component on his plate. I had the Eggs Benedict. This is one of my favorite "Benedicts." The reason, real hollandaise. They get it right. Thin slices of tasty smoked ham that they have lovingly cooked before they put it on the buttered English muffin that was toasted, not pale. And, the orange juice was wonderful. There was even a slice of watermelon on the plate. The food came in a timely manner, served with a smile. Ok, it was a drive and a wait for breakfast from Missoula but so worth the wait. No wonder it is packed on the weekends!

Late breakfast, good food by all 4 of us. Service was good but a bit slow for not being that busy. GF pancake were great, but guess they will have to change vendors

Michael D's Eatery is SO yummy. Their large menu is so unique and has quite the variety. The servers are ALWAYS so nice. The atmosphere is a bit outdated, but I think that is why people love it: it's a classic "ma and pop" kinda place. I would definitely recommend this place to people! I am from Spokane and it is worth the drive to CDA to go eat there.

Don't miss this place when you drive through Idaho. Michael D is at the door. Ask him to put you in Betinna's section. She is a delightful lady. Irish scramble is the best. Salmon Benedict is stellar. They have a killer Mimosa. Great find just off the freeway.

Michael D's feels like home, away from home. The atmosphere is like going to grandma's cabin in the woods. My husband and I eat here, an average of once a week, year round. When you visit MD's, you can expect to always be greeted warmly and treated like family. The consistency in both the service and the food, is really what makes this local breakfast joint favorite, a home run! My favorites include the Ham Scrambler and the Eggs Benedict and my husband usually sticks with the Paleo Waffle Combo. The Rosemary potatoes served with each dish, are crispy, flavorful and delicious. Even if there is a wait, you really can't go wrong with Michael D's.

Anytime I think of breakfast in Coeur d'Alene (especially if I want breakfast for lunch) this is the place that always pops into my head first! Enjoying my food sometimes on the hot ...clear your sinuses...side I often order the Courageous Omelet. Can be a great cure in the morning after a local brewery pub crawl the night before :) Whether visiting town or just a local looking for some breakfast, lunch or second lunch I suggest checking this place out!

We were up early and with a lot of miles to burn before our next stop, Hubby and I needed fuel for the road. Michael D's Eatery was up for that challenge. This seems to be a popular place with local residents since there was a lot of back and forth between tables. It is only open for breakfast and lunch and was crowded when we got there and still busy when we were ready to leave. But service was efficient and Amy W., our server, was friendly and helpful. Our order was taken quickly and the food arrived soon after, hot and delicious. I got an Irish Scrambler, Corned beef, green onion, scrambled eggs, potatoes & Swiss cheese with a dollop of sour cream. It is a really big helping and a very yummy combination of flavors. Hubby ordered Custard-Style Sour Dough French Toast which is two pieces of sour dough with honey spread, syrup and cinnamon sugar. It was a lot of food for our money and tends to demonstrate why they have so many customers. They have a large menu with lots of choices, service is good and the food is tasty. That's a winning combination in my book.

Usually I get the Aspiring omelette and I love it but today I switched it up for the Irish scrambler; potatoes, Swiss, egg, thinly sliced corned beef with green onions and a dollop of sour cream... So so so yummy in my tummy and will absolutely order it again. I have been here at least a handful of times and was just now told of their punch cards!

We came in about 12 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon. This Sunday afternoon. Today. There was about a 10 minute wait, as there were a few groups ahead of us and the place was full. The hostess was polite enough and cheerful. Restaurant itself is kind of small, but I'm used to places being a little bit bigger. so we were in a rush to get in and out because we had somewhere to be after. The waitress brought us waters within minutes of being seated and asked if we would like anything else to drink, when we told her we were ready to order. We ordered a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes and the chicken fried steak and eggs. Food - Pancakes: generous serving size, I think there were two or three of them in there and they were maybe about 8 inches in diameter. I didn't taste them myself, but my son threw down half of it within 2 minutes then was full. chicken fried steak: the meat was heavily breaded and very soggy. Batter did not stay crisp and just kinda turned into one big lump when mixed with the gravy. Served over a side of potatoes which were not evenly cut so different in size. A few of the larger pieces were still somewhat raw and crunchy, not crunchy in a good way. The whole plate was heavily drenched in white gravy, which burned my throat because it was so salty. I had a side of zucchini bread with it which tasted and looked like cinnamon flavored sugary bread. Service: after we got our food, that was the last we saw of our waitress. She walked by several times and wasn't that busy at that point anymore, But didn't stop by to check on us. After we finished eating. We sat there for a good 5-8 minutes doing nothing until i finally flagged her down for the check this may pass for good home cooking in Idaho, but if I were ever passing through again, which I will be next week, I probably would not come back.

Always a great choice! Has been our 'special' breakfast place since we moved to the area. Would be here more if we lived closer.

My fiancé and I went here today. We have been here a couple times, and have enjoyed the food and service very much each time. Today was a huge bust. Let me start out by saying that our food was still very good like usual. I would give the food and menu 4-5 stars. I enjoy that they use locally roasted coffee, and that there are so many diet options. The zucchini bread was to die for as well. What really ruined our visit today was the service we received. Our check said Olivia, so I'm assuming that was our server's name. We were greeted with a smile and lead to a booth, which I enjoyed, but that's where the good service stopped. I'll start this out by saying that I work in the food service industry as a barista, and I can understand having a bad day and not wanting to get a smile on your face for all the people during the day. Olivia asked if we wanted coffee, and we enthusiastically said yes please, and then waited ten minutes for that coffee to get to us, even though the coffee/bus boy was walking around and serving the few other tables around us. We chose what we wanted, and then waited at least another 15 minutes just for our server to take the order, since she decided not to when she poured our coffee. Every time she walked back and forth by our table I tried to smile and make eye contact, and she completely ignored us until she accidentally made eye contact with me and finally decided to come over on her own time. She was very short and curt with us while she asked us questions about what we wanted. The food took another 20 minutes at least, and when she gave it to us she did not come back to check in for a good amount of time. We ran out of coffee and requested more, but didn't receive any until we were almost done with the food. She never asked us whether we enjoyed our food, or whether we needed anything. We made sure to but the credit card on the table so that we wouldn't chance waiting any longer. She looked at the card several times and never picked it up until she felt like it. When she finally gave us the check after she ran it there was no "thank you" or "have a nice day". There were around ten tables when we were there, and I counted three waitresses and two bussers. Unless there was some serious problem, there is no way that our service should have been this bad. Honestly, I have never had service that was this horrible. This makes me not want to come to this restaurant ever again. I tried to think about whether or not we said anything to make her angry with us, but I always go above and beyond to be kind and have a smile on my face when I talk to servers because I basically work the same industry where people are rude to you all the time. This is completely unacceptable, and I hope the owner or manager sees this review to know that this is how their company is being represented.

Great breakfast. I got the Paleo pancakes with eggs and bacon. Technically the Paleo pancakes are served with butter, and I'm guessing some store syrup so the Paleoness stops at the pancakes, but they were definitely delicious and I was grateful that they had something I can eat! Also, we're from Rhode Island and appreciated some of the RI decor and history.

Fantastic experience! Food was great, server was even better (sorry I don't remember her name but a red head with a clover leaf tattoo). I had the Irish Scramble and my friend the Paleo Pancakes (recommended by our server as we never would have ordered it otherwise). Both were great and super surprised about the Paleo.

I have been to Michael d's probably 50 times. Its a good solid breakfast restaurant. Service is fast, breakfasts are consistent. My friend tells me its her favorite restaurant and we have tried them all. We just keep going back and like it.

Michael D's is great. I get their Margherita Benedict it is AMAZING. I could put that pesto hollandaise on everything. Their zucchini bread is great too. Everyone else I go with always gets the paleo pancakes and waffles, which are also delicious!

  • Matt B.

This was my first time here. I liked the homey feel of the establishment - the staff was very friendly too. Being able to sit outside on their covered patio for breakfast was great. I was happily surprised to see Paleo dishes offered on their menu, and tried the Sweet Potato Hash with Eggs. It was great - they make their own hash from quality beef brisket. I substituted a cup of fresh fruit for the tomatoes.

Absolutely the best breakfast in the area. I have enjoyed almost everything on the menu I have my favorites of course. Such as the Smoked salmon omelet and the smoked salmon Benedict. I have enjoyed the lunch items equally as well. The Ortega cheese steak sandwich is very good. Also the salads are great. And the Fish and chips are so yummy. The seasoning that they put in the batter on the fish is delicious. Michael D's is such a great place I drive here for breakfast as often as we can from Spokane. Totally worth the drive no matter how far you are frome here. Just go. You will not be disappointed. But will be addicted.

Aspire omelette was delish with a side of perfectly crispy potatoes and I added fresh avocado. Wild berry mimosa made it a perfect breakfast.

I had the Philly cheese steak with Rodney's Cajun Fries, a must for anyone in town or passing through!

As an out-of-towner, it's always reassuring to walk into a restaurant and see a lot of locals. Michael D.'s is that kind of place. Service was warm but not overbearing. Our waitress reminded me of Sookie, Melissa McCarthy's character in Gilmore Girls (a big positive, for non GG fans). Michael D. himself was serving tables when we stopped in for Saturday brunch. The spacious back room where we were seated keeps wait times reasonable during peak hours. We had fun playing spot the difference among the various sized reproductions of scenes from the Coeur d'Alene Ironman triathlon that adorn the walls. Standouts from what we ordered: Zucchini bread - there's definitely more butter in here than zucchini but it's the spirit of the thing Margherita eggs benedict Sourdough french toast - "not too eggy," as our resident vegetarian and french toast expert put it

  • Dan M.

Service was excellent , food was , well surprisingly inspired by Michael to add a PALEO line up that was fab! My wife's omelette was super and I would recommend it to any and all needing a good meal!

I worked at a business years ago that took our office on weekly meeting to this place and I am not joking when I say that though the office charged me for my meal ever week I hardly ever ate here because of the lack of quality. Years later my fiancé kept going on and on about how much positive information he had been hearing about the place and against my advice he took us for breakfast one morning. The food was as greasy as I remembered it and the service was even worse. Neither of us finished our meals and when it came time to pay the check we had to add it up ourselves and leave a note on the table as the waitstaff and apparently all the kitchen staff were on break together. I will never go here again and highly recommend that anyone debating the trip save their time and money...not to mention the calories.

  • Tom M.

The food is good and the servers are attentive. It tends to be very busy for breakfast so you may have to wait sometimes to be seated. There's only a few places around down town CDA that do breakfast reliably well and this place is one of them. Try the fresh baked pumpkin bread!

  • Josh B.

We've been eating here for years and every time we go the meal is just as good as the last. Check it out.

  • Erin S.

Michael's isn't the greatest breakfast place in town, but it's not the worst either. The food with bland and fairly greasy, when it doesn't need to be. As for the service, it was mediocre. We only saw our waitress when we ordered and then at the end when she gave us our bill. We were never checked on and was only given one refill of coffee, and that was done by another gal. There are better breakfast places in Coeur d'Alene and as a result I would only come here if they were closed.

We were staying in the posh Coeur d'Alene Resort for a week of golf. After several successive mornings in the resort breakfast place, Dockside, we wanted something different and a change in pace. We asked the Concierge and she recommended this place after I asked her 'where the locals went for breakfast.' She was 'spot on!' It was only a short drive from the resort and easy to find just off the main street. It's a nice, casual place for breakfast and lunch, only. It's primarily American food. It has all the typical breakfast and lunch items on the menu. I had the Chicken Fried Steak & eggs over easy. My wife had a Mushroom Omelet. Her omelet was so large she was only able to eat about half of it! My Chicken Fried Steak was excellent - coating was crispy and not too thick; the beef was tender and juicy. It's as good as any I've had in Texas! My only negative was the gravy - a bit too thick and too much of it but that was easily remedied by scraping some of it off to the side. Oh, I almost forgot - the Home Fries are the best I've every had. I have no idea how they get so much flavor into them. And they were nice and crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside - perfectly done! Our service was excellent. My coffee cup never ever came close to being empty! If we are in the area, again, I'm sure we would be back!!! Jim

Can't review the food because we never could get a busboy, hostess or waitress to look our way after sitting at our table for more than 20 minutes. They all walked by...several times...but not a boo, howdy or anything. Maybe outdoor seating is something this restaurant should reconsider.

This diner does a good job with breakfast and lunch in the Coeur d Alene area! They close early afternoon each day . Their breakfasts are huge and filling. Their lunches are good as well, I wish they brought back the best chef salad in the area though to the menu. Their coffee is very good and the waitresses are fast and always around. Super guy owns this and its always packed on the weekends so except a small wait. They serve fried potatoes instead of my favorite, hashbrowns. Wish they had both options. Their serving sizes are large! You can definitely split something here. A great place to meet as well with a nice room in the back that can be used. Right off 1-90 at Sherman at C'da Lake Dr. !

  • Kathi Y.

Not impressed. We like to try new places in the area when we can, I doubt we'll return to this place. Although our server was friendly, the service was incredibly slow. I ordered Egg's Benedict and toast. The toast (finally) arrived when we were halfway finished (by the way..a side order of toast is ONE piece cut in half). The sauce on the Egg's Benedict was not very good. I have had better from pre-packaged, and it left an unpleasant after taste. The potatoes were bland, had to add ketchup, salt and pepper. My companion had an omelet...bland would be an apt description. As a side note: the place was c-c-cold. It might have been nice if it were 90+ degrees outside, but it wasn't.

  • Travis T.

Unassuming from the outside, and even the decor in the inside, but once the giant plates of food are placed in front of you, you'll know instantly that eating at Michael D's was the perfect choice. Had breakfast there with my sister, brother-in-law and nephew (infant) on Saturday. I ordered the cheesesteak scrambler with whole wheat toast, and it was fantastic. I added a few splashes of Tabasco sauce. The steak was sliced thin, cooked well and flavorful. It was cheesy and the potatoes and scrambles eggs made the dish perfect. We also had the trout and eggs, which was incredibly good. The fish portion was shockingly large. And, we then had the bagel florentine with the creamy spinach sauce on the side. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the bagel was sliced into thirds, which was a nice change with all the other food we enjoyed. Finally, we had a blueberry Grainy Day pancake, which was very tasty. I don't know all the background on Grainy Day but it was fantastic. The service was friendly and prompt and the tasty coffee free-flowing.

  • Joe S.

We had heard so much about this place that we decided to try it this morning for breakfast. The place was busy, we had to wait "about 10 minutes". Well those 10 minutes came and went and finally we were seated. We waited another 10 minutes before the watiress came and took our order. Our order was pretty simple - eggs and bacon and an omlette. 4 tables who had ordered AFTER us got their food BEFORE us! Our waitress was AWOL. We asked another waitress if we could speak to the manager only to find out that there was no manager on duty. She did go check on our order and SURPRISE, it came out in less than a minute! We were told our toast had been burnt and that she (our original waitress) put our order in again so that it would all be hot when she brought it to our table. I think she went on break and failed to put our order in. Then both waitresses wanted to make things right by interrupting our meal by keeping our coffee cups and water glasses full, rather than letting us finish our meal without interruption. The food was okay, it could have been excellent, but that fact was missed by the poor service. Coeur d'Alene is lacking for good breakfast spots and this one was quite disappointing.

Staying in CDA for cpl days, and was introduced to this wonderful breakfast place. Had the Irish Scramble - corned beef, green onions, scrambled eggs, potatoes and swiss cheese, and topped with sour cream !!! - The corned beef was shredded and flavored the entire plate ! - best breakfast I've had in a long time... price was great at about $10 and had to leave some, as the portions were huge! Will be back !!

You know you stumbled upon a great place when there are locals spilling out the door on a lazy Saturday morning. A late lazy Saturday morning at that. This small looking, but rather large inside breakfast spot in Coeur d' Alene does everything right. From the friendly service to the warm atmosphere to the tasty, tasty food. I'm not one for waiting for a table in a crowd of people, but the locals in Coeur d' Alene are some of the nicest people I have ever met and the experience at this restaurant was absolutely worth it. We each had a yummy omelet, cooked to perfection. The portions are large, we could have got away with splitting breakfast, but when you are on vacation, you might as well enjoy the tasty food. The staff was friendly and seemed thrive on the busy atmosphere. Smiles were abundant. So were the coffee refills. Despite how busy it was, we didn't feel rushed and had a great breakfast experience.

Great breakfast place to go to with the family. It's always packed but you never have to wait to long for a table. I'd definitely say above average food here, when comparing to the other breakfast restaurants in town. Been here many many times and wont hesitate to go back again.

  • Niki J.

Went there for breakfast, ordered the Irish Skillet, it was very good. Could have used a little more corned beef and a little less potatoes.. but isn't that always the case. My husband's chicken friend steak was wonderful, fork tender and so so good. My only complaint, the gravy on my biscuit was barely luke warm when it was served. But the biscuit was Great so I just ate it quickly before the gravy could cool off even more. Great little place, will go there again!

Trout and eggs and pan fried potatoes. Add a beer and you have the perfect breakfast. If that's not your flavor then the menu is jammed packed with wonderful selections to fit any mood or taste. Fresh, fast and friendly this place is a definite short list contender everytime.

Hands down the BEST breakfast in town. If you want a good meal not covered in grease then visit Micheal D's. The coffee is a good local blend, Doma, and the potatoes are quite possibly the best in my life! I prefer the chicken fried steak which comes with a good gravy and healthy portion of fries. The meals are always consistent, we get the same thing every time and it comes the same way! The service is great as well. On weekends expect a 20-30 minute wait. However, there might be a space at the bar. Enjoy, if I ever move this is one restaurant I will miss.

Yum, yum! Good food that's not for the faint of heart - literally... we're cooking with butter here! Michael D's is a charming little hole in the wall where you'll fraternize with locals and vacationers - the working man and the man of leisure... Stop in with an appetite and leave satisfied! Read the back of your menu and you'll feel like you've known the owner your whole life...

Meh. Everyone says this place is great for breakfast, but I've tried it a few times now and I haven't been impressed. It is not much different than any other diner type breakfast experience I've had around CDA. I have yet to find a great breakfast or brunch in this town, but for the price, you could go to the Breakfast nook or even to Down the Street and get the same style of food for a much cheaper price. Food was greasy here, everything tasted bland, and there was nothing special on the menu. I guess this is a good place if you are just looking for a basic breakfast, but if you are looking for that other places in CDA serve the same things for a cheaper price.

    (2)
  • Joe W.

A local CDA person told us this was the best breakfast in town,,,and they were right. Got a great table within seconds of entering the restaurant. The service and food was excellent. I can see why this place gets such rave reviews. On my must go again list for Cour d' Alene.

EVERYTHING a breakfast joint ought to be. We were greeted at the door by the owner who obviously has built his dream. Perfect pancakes, corned beef hash and yummy potatoes ... also stupidly good hollandaise and one of the best biscuits that's ever crossed my lips. Every detail, including good cooking technique on the eggs and everything coming out on time and hot, was just right. Did I mention that they also served delicious vegetarian sausage? For a hungry California girl in Idaho this nearly brought a tear to my eye. mmmmm You HAVE to go here.

Ate here the first time for breakfast. Had the specials: pan fried trout and chicken fried steak. Trout was a bit expensive at $14.95, but it was excellent! Chicken fried steak gets extra points for the homemade gravy. Home fries were well seasoned, service was friendly. We will be back!

What can we say other than Michael D's Eatery really brought its A game this morning. The place was packed but the service was wonderful, we were seated quick and the coffee refills were right on cue. We got a vegetarian scrambler and it was a good balance of eggs and potatoes, everything was cooked right, and there was a pleasant amount of heat from the peppers. We split the scrambler and we added a cup of fruit and it was just the right amount of food. The check came promptly and with a smile, as did our change, and we were out the door and back on the road towards Seattle. This was a really, really good experience all the way around.

Hit this place twice for breakfast while vacationing in Coeur d'Alene. Great stuff and seeing the real Michael walk around, greet and even bus tables adds something special.
